I sure do love the holiday season! There is one thing that I could do without though. That would be the stress! The hustle, the fuss, the last minute baking and shopping. The running around like a mad lady trying to get it all done. Phew. I am exhausted just typing it all out. This year, I’m really liking the idea of a casual holiday gatherings. Doesn’t that sound a bit more refreshing? Ahh.
Casual Holiday Get Together Ideas
Let’s spend more time enjoying our company this year by keeping things simple, shall we? Say no to complicated and say hello to simple. Two of the biggest time and money suckers when hosting guests for the holidays are gifts and food. I have very simple ideas on how to add those to the easy list and cross them off the list of things to stress about.
Gift Swap. One of the best things that my family does for the holidays is to do a gift swap instead of buying gifts for everyone. While the little kids do get special gifts, when it comes to the adults this is a serious time and money saver. Typically each adult brings a gift valued at about $25. Then, we pick numbers from a bowl. The first person picks whichever gift they would like and we go down the list. Each person gets to swap their gift with anyone that opened their present before them. It ends up being a whole lot of fun. Cross off entertainment and games because this gift swap takes care of all of that.
While it’s fantastic to eat up giant feasts, it’s okay to just serve lighter fare. Sure there will be occasions where you’ll want to make a turkey, but do you always have to do it all? NABISCO is stepping in to help consumers around the country prepare for every party of the holiday season by creating and curating dozens of holiday recipes including this stunning Hot Apple Pie Dip that bakes up in about 12 minutes!
