Is there anything that says Happy St. Patrick's day faster than a shamrock? Add some cute big candy eyes and a tiny crooked smile and you have yourself the perfect Cute Shamrock Sugar Cookies around. They are great for celebrating and also perfect for gifting. Say Happy St. Paddy's day with a smile.

I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for a cute treat for St. Paddy's day. When they are shaped like shamrocks or rainbow colored, it floats my boat ever more. These super simple cookies are very easy to make using store-bought cookie dough and icings and can literally be made in minutes.

I've shared some simple tips for making the best cookies from refrigerated store bought sugar cookie dough if you need some inspo. Hint: Adding some All Purpose Flour is a must if you plan on reshaping and using with a cookie cutter. Keeping the bought nice and chilly is another must.

EASY SHAMROCK SUGAR COOKIES 

Want to celebrate this fun holiday with a little flair? These easy St. Patrick's Day cookies come together with just a hand full of ingredients. Making a sweet treat couldn't be much easier. This recipe relies are easy store-bought items such as cookie dough and icings. It's a bit of Leprechaun magic if you ask me.

Here's what you need:

  • Refrigerated Sugar Cookie Dough + All Purpose Flour
  • Shamrock Cookie Cutter
  • Green Icing
  • Black Icing Writer
  • Big Candy Eyes

Don't blink or you might miss how easy these are to whip up. Add ¼ cup of All Purpose Flour to your sugar cookie dough and roll out to ¼".  Use a Shamrock cookie cutter to make about 10 cookies.

Then, bake em up for 10-12 minutes and let them cool before icing.

Once the cookies are cooled, carefully ice the cookies with green cookie icing and let is set for about 5 minutes or so.

Add big candy eyes, making sure to overlap them a little to make them look extra cute.

Use a black icing writer to make a little half crooked smile... because that adds to the cuteness.

Let the icing fully set for about another 10-15 minutes and you are good to serve these fun treats!

Cute Shamrock Sugar Cookies

Cook Time: 12 minutes
Additional Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 32 minutes

Cute Shamrock Cookies with big eyes made from store-bought sugar cookie dough.

Ingredients

  • Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough (16.5 oz)
  • ½ Cup All Purpose Flour
  • Green Icing
  • Black Icing Writer
  • Big Candy Eyes
  • Tools: Shamrock Cookie Cutter

Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 325°F
    2. Knead cookie dough with all the purpose flour on a floured surface.
    3. Roll the dough out until the dough is about ¼" thick
    4. Use Shamrock Cookie Cutter to make about 10 cookies
    5. Place cookies on a non-stick baking sheet
    6. Add baking sheet to the freezer for 10 minutes or refrigerator for 15 minutes to help preserve shape and reduce spreading.
    7. Bake for about 12 minutes.
    8. Cool completely before decorating.
    9. Once the cookies are cooled, carefully ice the cookies with green cookie icing. Let set for about 5 minutes.
    10. Add big candy eyes, making sure to overlap them a little.
    11. Use a black icing writer to make a little half crooked smile.
    12. Let icing fully set before serving or packaging.
