10 Low Key Date Night Ideas at Home

10 Low Key Date Night Ideas at Home

Falling in love is one of the most rewarding things that can happen in life. Once the business of daily life kicks in, it's harder to find quality time together. Sometimes it's the simplest moments that can revive that romance. We can take the time to dig through the chaos of routine and do something fun and special. Today, I'm sharing some of my best low key date night ideas at home

10 Ideas for a Low Key Dates at Home. Romance doesn't have to be complicated.

Now that my husband and I both work at home, it's extra to draw that line between work and fun. We have to try a little harder to carve out time.

10 Easy Date Nights at Home

I wanted to come up with a list of ideas that would make keeping that spark alive without having to try so hard. Let's do this!

1. Dinner and a Movie

Feed the kids and when they're in bed, enjoy a special adults-only dinner! Sneaky, sneaky way to catch some alone time. Dinner and a movie at home doesn't have to mean TV dinner and the latest episode of Housewives of Whatever - unless you're into that. Why not make dinner together? Just make sure to get some whipped cream or butter to smear on his face when he's not paying attention... wedding cake style. Then top it off by watching your favorite flick. Our favorite has always been Love & Basketball.

2. Netflix and Chill
In the literal sense, don't get silly on me ladies. If you and your guy are always having to dress to the nines for work, or if you're just tired of wearing pants after a long week of parenting, fire up some shows, bust out the popcorn, and binge watch something in your PJ's. This is my kind of date night!
3. Gaming
These days, it's not just 16 year old kids who are in to gaming. We are the first generation to actually discover video games. If you're up for some friendly competition, fire up the console, and leave all your worries behind while you try to demolish each other. My husband and I also like the games where you use teamwork to win, we actually recently just beat an entire game together. That was cool. 😉

4. Read to Each Other
Nothing is more romantic than poetry. *sigh* Prepare some poems or passage excerpts that you feel best convey your feelings for one another. Or just crack open a book you both have always wanted to enjoy but never had time for. Just add some candles,  they make everything better.

5. Fireside Cuddling
This is always a nice one. Now that the weather is getting cooler, snuggle up with your guy next to a warm fire and wrap yourselves up in a cuddly blanket. You don't have to have a fireplace either, you can pull up a mock fireplace right on Netflix or YouTube. It's the full romance package in just a couple clicks.

6. Dessert for Dinner
One of my FAVS! Closely related to dinner and a movie, but different. Bust out the fondue set and dip all kinds of delicious goodies in a bath of chocolate. This opens up all sort of possibilities for good times from laughing to romance.
Brownie Sundae Root Beer Float. Basically two of the best desserts merged into one amazing creation. Yes Please!

7. Sit on the Porch
Also closely related to cuddling, sitting on the porch is a wonderful way to pass the time for date night. Just enjoy each other's company while you look at the stars and have the kinds of conversations you used to before you had all of those responsibilities. Best part is you won't need a babysitter.

8. Play Cards
Playing cards is not just for poker night. Card games are always great, because they allow for lots of good-natured ribbing and a little competition. And don't forget the old standby - strip poker! 😉

9. Wine, Cocktails or Mocktails.
Whatever you do for date night, don't forget the perfect signature beverage. A good wine pairs so perfectly with dinner, dessert, and romance. There is nothing like the introduction of wine to make date night feel so much more romantic.

10. Couple's Spa Night
This is one you might not think of for date night ideas for home, but spoiling each other right at home can be so much fun.  If you want to kick it up a notch, you can hire a fully licensed massage providers that will come to your home and give you and your guy a nice couple's massage? Fancy!

BONUS. Watch POV Videos on YouTube.
It's a great way to experience almost anything. We love watching theme park videos and haunted house videos for Halloween. There is no limit to what you can "do" and "experience" from behind a screen in 2022.

I love your ideas Dawn! They're all great and most importantly feasible. Another thing my husband and I like to do is drive up the mountain and simple watch the shooting stars. It takes us back to our dating days.
