DIY Unicorn Notebooks

DIY Unicorn Notebooks

Is time flying or is it just me? It feels like my son just got out of school for the summer, but nope. Time just zipped by. We've just started the countdown. We'll be cramming in fun activities to soak up the last couple of weeks and I'll be tapping into all my resources. Today I'm sharing DIY Unicorn Notebooks as fun project last minute summer project. This inspired craft uses back to school supplies that are practically a steal at Walmart this season! This is a sponsored post.

Walmart is offering up a ton of convenience for back to school shopping this year. I've been using their free grocery pick up service for months now and it's what I've been needing in my life SO BAD. It's SO simple. Being a work at home parent is seriously not as easy as it might sound. I've been really working hard on getting everything done on the weekdays so that I can fully enjoy my weekends. In order to make that happen, I have to lean on amazing shortcuts like these to get it all done without losing my sanity. I was thrilled to learn that Walmart has added hundreds of back-to-school staples available that can be ordered right now with their Online Grocery Pickup shopping.

Bingo! As an added bonus, there are some serious steals on these items right now. Everything you see above was a little more than $2. {Insert jaw drop here}

Easy DIY Unicorn Notebooks

Before we jump into back to school, let's have a little fun with these inexpensive back to school supplies from Walmart. Here's what I used to make these cute unicorn notebooks:

My FREE Unicorn Printable (pdf)

Composition Notebooks

Cover Stock in Various Colors

Glue Stick and School Glue

Duck Tape

Tools: Ruler and Scissors

Print my Unicorn Printable (pdf) and print on your cover stock or simply use it to trace your unicorn face onto the cover stock. You can also just cut out your own designs for this if you want to get extra creative.

Cut cover stock into 1" strips. I used three different colors for the pinata style background. Use scissors to trim little slits on one side of each of the cover stock strips. I made my slits a little less than half way through each strip.

Use a glue stick to glue your cover stock strips onto the notebook cover. Alternate colors for an extra fun look. Starting at the bottom and working your way up to the top is my recommended strategy.

Use scissors and a ruler to trim off the excess cover stock around the notebook's edges.

Almost done! Glue your unicorn "face" onto the front of the notebook. Glue sticks won't work for this part, so use regular glue. Once your glue is dry, it's time for the final step. Use Duck Tape to cover the notebook binder to bring your look together. I LOVED the glitter for this, but you can get fun and funky and use your favorite kind. Use scissors to trim the excess tape away from the notebook.

Aren't these so cute? That's it! They're done! So simple and budget friendly!
