Ready to indulge?
Start out by lining a 9-inch pie plate with one of the pie crusts. Let the edges overhang and then chill until you're ready to fill the pie.
In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt.
Then add the sliced apples and the lemon juice and toss them to coat.
Add the apples to the prepared pie crust while mounding in the center.
Then, carefully place the second crust over the apples and press it gently to adhere to the lower crust. Fold overhanging crust over and flute the edges.
Finally, cut a small hole in the center to vent.
Chill the entire pie for 15 minutes and preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
Remove the pie from the fridge and brush the pie with egg wash. Then, sprinkle the top of the pie with the remaining 1 tablespoon sugar.
Place the pie on a baking sheet in the lower third of the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
Then, don't miss this important step. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for an additional hour to an hour and 15 minutes, until apples are tender, filling is bubbling and crust is golden.
Cool on wire rack before serving. Then, do it up big!!
