In the movie, the scrappy street dog dubbed Arthur was enticed with real meatballs. I thought it would be fun to make a fun play on this with peanut butter oat doggy treats topped with a simple strawberry sauce to look like pasta sauce.

"MEATBALL AND SAUCE" DOG TREATS

*Just a note to be sure to check with your vet to ensure your ingredients are acceptable for your pup. Do not use ANY peanut butter brands made with xylitol.

DOG TREAT INGREDIENTS:

  • 100% Pure Pumpkin, Canned
  • Creamy Peanut Butter (*DO NOT USE PB WITH XYLITOL)
  • Old Fashioned Oats
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon

STRAWBERRY SAUCE INGREDIENTS:

  • Strawberries
  • Water

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add all of the treat ingredients to a large bowl to start preparing the "meatballs". Mix until completely blended. Use a cookie scoop to measure out and roll into balls. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

On medium low, simmer for about 25 minutes, stirring frequently. Sauce is ready when the strawberries have broken down. Remove the pan from heat and cool completely before serving.

Make a fun oat and peanut butter snack for dogs to celebrate the Arthur The King movie.

Ingredients

  • DOG TREAT INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 Cups 100% Pure Pumpkin, Canned
  • 1 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter (Warning. DO NOT USE PEANUT BUTTER WITH XYLITOL)
  • 5 Cups Old Fashioned Oats
  • ½ Cup Honey
  • 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
  • STRAWBERRY SAUCE INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 lb Strawberries, Chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Water

Instructions

Prepare “meatballs” by adding all of the treat ingredients to a large bowl.

Mix until blended. Use a cookie scoop to measure out and roll into balls.

Refrigerate for an hour before serving. Prepare sauce.

Add chopped strawberries and water to a saucepan. Simmer on medium low for about 25 minutes, stirring frequently.

Sauce is done when strawberries have broken down.

Remove from heat and cool completely before serving. Serving: 1 treat with sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

Do not use xylitol peanut butter, it is unsafe for dogs. Check ingredients. Check with your vet before serving to your dogs. Serving suggestion: 1 dog treat per day.
