HOW TO MAKE A SHARK FRUIT TRAY
Need something sweet to go along with your Shark-cuterie board? I have you covered with this simple crowd-pleasing dessert. To step it up a bit, I will share how I made a very simple sweet ocean water dip, too.
SHARK FRUIT TRAY INGREDIENTS
Here are the fruits used to make this simple shark-shaped dessert platter.
Ingredients:
- Blueberries
- Bananas
- Watermelon slice
- Pineapple
- Blackberries
- Lemon Juice (optional)
Tools:
- A rectangular tray or platter like this 11" x 17" Baking Sheet
- Small star-shaped cookie cutter (optional)
- Sharp knife
- Cutting board
If you aren't planning on serving immediately, I highly recommend using fresh lemon juice to preserve the banana slices. I typically toss them in a bowl with a little water and lemon juice. Pat dry and use.

I did a little experiment on banana slices and lemon juice came out on top for the way to make them last longer. I won't say it's a save it all solution, but it does prevent them from drying out fast and turning in color indoors. Taking them outdoors in summer heat is not going to be great if not eaten immediately.

PREPARE A SHARK FRUIT TRAY
If you want to make this SHARKingly easy fruit platter, get the easy tutorial in the recipe card below. The instructions and exact ingredient list are all compiled there where you can save or print.
Here is the shortened version to give you an idea of how I made this.
- Arrange washed blueberries on a tray to outline a shark.
- Shape a watermelon slice with red flesh and yellow rind into a crescent for the mouth, placing it at the base. Add pineapple triangles as teeth along the inner edge.
- Peel and slice bananas, brushing with lemon water if needed to prevent browning, and use them to fill the shark's body.
- Next, add blackberries as eyes, optionally placing banana slices underneath.
- Decorate with star-shaped banana, apple, or pear slices brushed with lemon juice, arranging them around the shark for a sea-inspired touch.
- Optional: Serve with blue-tinted whipped cream and crushed graham crackers for a sandy effect.
- Finally, adjust as needed for a clear shark shape and serve immediately.
SERVE WITH OCEAN WHIPPED CREAM
It's really simple to add an ocean blue color to your favorite whipped topping or homemade whipped cream. Simple add a little Blue Spirulina to it. It blends and mixes so well and I love that it's a clean ingredient to pair with the fruit.
One thing to note is that a little of the blue spirulina goes a long way. Start with a small amount and add a little more until you achieve the color you like. Then, you can spoon on the platter. Add a few sprinkles of crushed graham crackers for "sand" if you like, too.

CUTE SHARK FOOD IDEAS
If you are looking for more fun foodie ideas for a shark party, I have some more fun recipes that will float your boat.

Shark Fruit Tray
Make a fun shark fruit tray using bananas, blueberries, watermelon, and more! Perfect for parties, kids, or ocean-themed events. Easy and delicious!
Ingredients
- pint of blueberries
- 2-3 bananas
- 1 watermelon slice
- 3 pineapple slices
- 2 blackberries
- Optional: extra banana slices (for star-shaped decorations)
Instructions
Begin by washing and drying the blueberries, then arrange them on a tray to form the outline of a shark.
To make the mouth, cut a slice of watermelon that includes both the red flesh and yellow rind. Position the watermelon slice at the base of the shark's body.
Cut small triangles out of the pineapple. Place them as teeth surrounding the entire inner outline of the watermelon slice.
Peel and slice bananas into thin, even rounds. (If not serving immediately, you can brush them with a little lemon juice and water and pat dry to help preserve. Place banana slices within the blueberry outline to fill in the shark's body.
Add two blackberries on either side of the shark's head to serve as eyes. Add a slice of banana under each if you desire.
Make any necessary adjustments to the fruit pieces to ensure the shark shape is distinct and visually appealing.
For extra decoration, use a star-shaped cookie cutter to create stars from banana, apple or pear slices, arranging them around the shark to evoke sea stars or bubbles. (Brush lemon juice on them to preserve)
Optional: Make a Cool Whip or Whipped Cream dip by adding a little Blue Spirulina or Blue Food Coloing. Sprinkle crushed graham cracker on for sand if desired.
Serve immediately.
