Turkey shaped snacks have increased popularity over the last couple of years, so let's go all in.

Caprese in the shape of Christmas trees has been a hit over on my Facebook page, so I thought it would be fun to make a festive combo for another holday.
There is something so magical about the combination of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil together.
Add in some salt, pepper and olive oil to amp it up and if you drizzle some balsamic glaze over it, oh my.

CAPRESE TURKEY FOR THANKSGIVING

Let's go over the simple ingredients and then I'll explain how to make this easily and quickly.
TURKEY-SHAPED CAPRESE INGREDIENTS
Here is a quick list of items used to make this.

- Large fresh basil leaves
- Large tomato slices
- Cherry tomato half
- Fresh mozzarella slices
- Carrot or orange bell pepper
- Peppercorns
- Salt & pepper
- Olive oil &/or balsamic glaze for drizzling (optional)

ARRANGE CAPRESE INTO A TURKEY SHAPE
Here are the shortcut instructions, for a quick overview of how to assemble this yummy Thanksgiving starter.
- Arrange basil in a fan for feathers.
- Layer tomato slices over the basil.
- Stack mozzarella for the body and add half cherry tomato for head.
- Add a orange pepper or carrot beak and peppercorn eyes.
- Place orange pepper or carrot strips for feet.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze and serve.

Caprese Turkey Recipe
This Caprese Turkey is a fun and festive twist on the classic salad! Fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and basil leaves come together to create a delicious turkey-shaped snack that’s perfect for Thanksgiving celebrations.
Ingredients
- 12 large fresh basil leaves
- 5 large tomato slices
- 1 cherry tomato half
- ½ 16oz log fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 1 small piece of carrot or orange bell pepper (for the beak and feet)
- 2 peppercorns for eyes
- salt & pepper, olive oil &/or balsamic glaze for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
Make the feathers. Arrange basil leaves in a fan shape on a serving board.
Add tomato layers. Place the tomato slices over the basil to form colorful turkey “feathers.”
Build the turkey body: Stack mozzarella slices in the center, slightly overlapping to form the body and head.
Create the face: Place half of a cherry tomato (sliced side down) onto the top half of the fresh mozzerella. Add a small piece of carrot or bell pepper on top for the beak and two peppercorns for the eyes.
Add the feet: Cut two small strips of carrot or pepper and place them underneath the mozzarella body.
Finish and serve: Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired, and serve immediately.
