How to Make Ice Cream Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Prepare the chocolate- Divide the melting chocolate between microwave-safe bowls. In one bowl, add 8 ounces and the other two bowls should have 4 ounces. Microwave the chocolate, one bowl at a time, for 30-second increments until melted. Be sure to stir between each heating. Make sure to not overheat the chocolate. This will cause it to burn.
Color the chocolate by adding one drop of pink and then one drop of blue into the 4-ounce bowls. In the 8-ounce bowl, add 2 drops of brown. Stir well.
Color the strawberries- Dip the strawberries in the brown chocolate. Let the excess chocolate drop off and then place the strawberry on parchment paper. Do this for all of the strawberries.
Use a spoon drip the pink chocolate on the top of half of the strawberries. Manipulate the drops with the spoon. Sprinkle with sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Do the same thing with the rest of the strawberries using the blue chocolate. Allow all the strawberries to set then enjoy.
Tips and Tricks When Making Chocolate Covered Strawberries
To ensure your chocolate covered strawberries look as delightful as they taste, consider these additional tips and tricks:
- Temperature matters: Make sure the strawberries are at room temperature before dipping them in chocolate. Cold strawberries can cause the chocolate to harden too quickly, making it difficult to get a smooth finish.
- Dry thoroughly: After washing, ensure your strawberries are completely dry. Water can prevent the chocolate from adhering properly to the strawberry.
- Double dipping: For a thicker chocolate shell, consider double dipping the strawberries. Allow the first layer of chocolate to set before dipping a second time. This will enhance the flavor and add an extra layer of texture.
- Storage: Chocolate covered strawberries are best enjoyed the day they are made. However, if you need to store them, place them in a single layer in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
FAQS for Ice Cream Chocolate Covered Strawberries
What is the best chocolate to use for dipping strawberries?
For dipping strawberries, the best chocolate to use is high-quality chocolate that has a high cocoa butter content. Couverture chocolate is preferred by many professional bakers for its smooth texture and superior flavor. This type of chocolate melts beautifully and evenly, creating a glossy finish on the strawberries once it sets. You can choose between dark, milk, or white chocolate based on your preference. Be sure to finely chop the chocolate or use chocolate chips for easier melting.
How long does it take for the chocolate to set?
The setting time for chocolate can vary depending on the temperature and humidity of your environment. Typically, chocolate-covered strawberries will set within 30 minutes to an hour when placed in a cool, dry area. However, for a quicker setting process, you can place the strawberries in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. Remember to bring them back to room temperature before serving to ensure the best flavor and texture.
Can I freeze chocolate covered strawberries?
It's generally not recommended to freeze chocolate-covered strawberries as freezing can cause the chocolate to become discolored and the strawberries to become watery once thawed. The texture and overall quality of the strawberries are best when consumed fresh. If you must store them, keep them in the refrigerator as advised in the storage tips.

Notes
If you find it easier to use a piping bag, snip the tiniest end off and use that to drip the pink and blue chocolate.
You can use milk chocolate for the cone but it will be a darker chocolate than food colored white.
I recommend using gel food coloring, It helps the chocolate retain its consistency.
