When I think of school mornings of very distant past, it reminds me about homemade breakfasts with buttermilk pancakes. Other than buttermilk biscuits and pancakes, I never really gave buttermilk much thought. But, it's a very versatile ingredient that can be added to so many other baked goods and even some surprising savory dishes for dinner. For a few years, I had trouble finding buttermilk at my local store which can be an issue for recipe followers, that's why I started searching up substitutes. I've used milk with vinegar and that worked awesome, but there are many other buttermilk substitutes out there. Joy the baker has recipes for mixing things like lemon or yogurt with milk.
