HOW TO MAKE BBQ CHICKEN DRUMSTICKS IN THE OVEN

Ready to make the sauciest drumsticks around? This flavor-packed dish can be made in the oven quite quickly. Here are the easy instructions below but you can save or print in the recipe card at the bottom of this post for your convenience.

You will need a 3 Quart Baking Dish for this recipe.

Start off by pre-heating your oven to 400 degrees F. Next, spray a 3-quart baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.

Add salt and pepper to the drumsticks and place them in your baking dish.

Then combine the chili sauce, ketchup, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, dry mustard and garlic salt in a small bowl and stir until ingredients are fully combined into a gorgeous sauce.

Pour the sauce over the drumsticks, be sure to turn the drums over to coat them all evenly.

Ingredients

  • 6 chicken drumsticks
  • Salt and pepper
  • ½ cup sweet Thai style chili sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried ground mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt

Instructions

1. Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 3-quart baking dish

2. Salt and pepper the drumsticks and place in baking pan.

3. In a small bowl, combine the chili sauce, ketchup, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, dry mustard and garlic salt; stir to combine well.

4. Pour sauce over the drumsticks, turning them over to coat evenly. Bake for 40 minutes or until internal temperature of chicken is at least 165 degrees F.

5. Optional step: Remove from oven and baste with the cooked sauce, return to oven and BROIL on High for 5 minutes, watching closely. This results in a crispier skin. 

Notes

• You can substitute regular sweet chili sauce for the Thai style if you prefer a drumstick that is not sweet and spicy. YIELD: 6 drumsticks Prep Time: 5 Minutes Total Time: 45 Minutes

• Feel free to use thighs in this recipe, or a combination of both!

• If you have someone that loves to use BBQ sauce as a dip on the side, you can reserve ¼ cup sauce before pouring on the chicken. It will be thicker before cooking with the chicken, as the juices from the drumsticks will thin it somewhat.
