HOW TO MAKE THIS ELF CRAFT
Making this craft is so simple, here are step-by-step instructions so you can make sure that your craft turns out just the way that you want it to. So, gather the kids and get ready to enjoy the festive fun that comes from making these little elves.
First, let’s make the body of our elf! Take a recycled toilet paper roll and cut a section of green construction paper to fit the length and width of the tube. Staple the paper to the back of the toilet paper roll to secure it. Set aside.
Now let’s make the head and ears for the elf! Using the end of a toilet paper roll, trace a circle on the flesh-colored construction paper and cut it out for the face. Next, trace 2 almond shapes and cut them out for the ears. Glue them to the sides of the face.
Add 2 googly eyes and use the black marker to draw and nose and smile. Lastly, take a hole punch and punch 2 holes out of the pink construction paper for some rosy cheeks. Set aside.
Next, let’s make a hat for the elf! Cut a triangle out of the green construction paper for the hat. Take a piece of red glitter card stock and cut a strip long enough to cover the hat's brim. Cut a jagged edge with scissors and glue it to the edge to create a more decorative brim. Lastly, add a craft pom to the top of the hat with a dab of glue. Now that the hat is complete, let’s glue it to the toilet paper roll. Press to secure.
Now let’s dress up our cute little elf! Take a piece of red glitter card stock and cut another strip similar to the one for the brim of your hat. Cut a jagged edge and glue it with the point side down just under the face for the collar.
Next, take a piece of black card stock and cut a strip to wrap around the body of the belt. Staple it in the back to secure it. Next, cut a black square out of the card stock and another smaller gold square from the glitter card stock. Glue the gold square to the black square and then glue it to the center of the belt for the buckle.
Your elf is now complete and ready for an afternoon in Santa’s workshop!
This simple craft is perfect for kids of all ages and can be easily modified to fit your needs. So, get creative and have fun!
If you are hosting a holiday party this year this is a great way to get your kids involved in making decorations or just to keep them entertained and occupied while the adults enjoy the party!
