We're finally experiencing it. The heat! Growing up in New England my entire life never really prepared me for summer survival in Florida. With Joey home for the next couple of months from school, our schedule has been put to the test.  We're figuring out new routines and ways to keep him filled up in while he's keeping extra active. That's why I thought it would be helpful to put a list of healthy snacks for teenagers on the go together. It seems like Jo is hungry constantly, instead of him digging into a box of cookies, I'm trying out some new ideas including unique juice made right here in my new home state. This is a sponsored post about tangerine based Noble Juice, all opinions are my own.

test featureIt can get absolutely get mega hot in Rhode Island and Connecticut during the summer months too. But, it's nothing compared to the relentless heat here. Now, don't get me wrong I'm really loving our new life, we just have to do things a little differently. That includes more sunscreen, hats and I never thought I would do this... but we have started to plan activities around the warm heat. My car read 99° when I got into it today. Phew! Can you feel the sizzle?

My son is really active. We've had conversations about why other kids he hangs out with don't push as hard when they play team sports. He is really a unique kid and I know I've mentioned it, but he really wants to play professional football when he gets older. I've never seen a kid more dedicated to a dream and it's not to brag, it actually scares the pants off me just thinking about it. This same dedicated kid that pushes himself to the limit, still needs our help to flourish.

He refuses to drink water at times and it drives me bananas. That's where awesome options like Florida grown Noble Juice has been an awesome discovery for us. They offer unique beverage options, like their tangerine based juice. They have 100% Florida Tangerine Juice and some other thirst quenching tangerine varieties like Apple Mandarin Chai Juice. I'll be sharing about more delicious flavors in more upcoming posts, so keep an eye out for those!

More about the Noble Juice company, The Roe Family has been sharing citrus in Winter Haven since 1927.  Four generations later and the family is still at it! Most special of all for consumers is that they care about sustainability and giving back. After checking out their website and learning more about the company, I was even more impressed than when I first tasted their juice. The juices really speak for themselves at first sip, but it feels extra good to know that the producers of such tasty beverages really care about their product and ultimately my family.

I've also learned that making tangerine juice isn't as easy as it might sound. Noble Juice has a unique process that literally involved literally tasting samples to pick the best batches of fruit.  They don't add anything to the juice, just because they can. For them, it's about having something in that bottle of juice that's good for you and that tastes good. Why change a natural gift from mother nature? Loving that thought!

As promised, here are some of my ideas for healthy snacks for teens on the go!

teen snacks ideas

20 Healthy Snacks for Teenagers On-The-Go

1. Chopped Fruit and Veggies - Celery, cucumbers, baby carrots, peppers are just some veggies that are great to chop and go. Bananas, apples, grapes, berries and citrus are great fruit options since they come in their own built in portable wrapper 😉

2. Yogurt Cups - Yogurt is a really convenient and filling snack with protein.  Either get individual cups to go or buy a large container and send your teen off with a reusable container. You can even add your own toppings. My favorite combo is banana slices, walnuts and mini dark chocolate chips.

3. Cheese Squares or Cheese Sticks - We love extra sharp cheddar here and keep in on hand. Pair with whole grain crackers for an extra filling punch.

4.  Sandwich Rollups - Wrap up your teen's favorite lunch meat, cheeses and veggies. Press the wrap together tightly, and slice into bite sided nibbles for easy eating.

5. Nuts - We go through our phases around here, but nuts are always a go-to snack on our radar. I like that you can bag them up and take them anywhere anytime.

6. Trail Mix - Making your own trail mix is actually kind of fun. You get to hand pick the healthy add ins. I'm thinking healthy cereals, granola, nuts, dried fruits and maybe a little dark chocolate. Let your teen pick out what they would like in it for added fun.

7. Granola Bars -  Make a batch of your own for an even healthier option.

8. Pretzels - These are highly portable and don't have all that fat that you'll find it chips.

9. Freezer Pops - Make your own healthy pops at home using juices, fruits and you can even squeeze in some neutral veggies. My favorites are spinach and cucumber.

10. Boiled Eggs -  This is one of our favorite tasty snacks that fit out busy lifestyle. Keep them on hand for a really portable snack option.

11. Dried Fruits - Keeping dried fruits on hand is awesome, great way to have a snack on hand that won't go bad. One of our favorites around here are mini boxes raisins.

12. Veggies with Hummus or Guacamole - Serve up a filling and healthful dip and serve fresh chopped veggies with it.  These options are great for a protein or veggie based dip that tastes great.

13. Crackers with Nut Butter  - Top whole grain crackers with your choice of nut butters for a quick fill me up. Make them into mini sandwiches to keep it mess free.

14. Applesauce - I've been eating applesauce since I was a girl and my son loves it too. It's an easy to grab snack in individual serving cups or your own reusable container.

15. Waffle or Pancake Rollup - Warm a whole grain waffle or pancake (don't toast), spread your favorite nut butter and or jelly and even banana slices, roll it like a wrap. Slice into bites. Use nut butter to seal the edges.

16. Baked Tortilla Chips - Pair with veggie packed fresh salsa for an added flair.

17. Mini Bagels - Top with protein based spread like peanut butter or any nut butter of choice for a portable treat.

18. Popcorn - Popcorn is an easy to serve treat that kids will love. Make your own to keep it extra healthy if can. Add mix-ins like a trail mix or add flavors to spruce it up from time to time.

19. Kid friendly protein Smoothies & Shakes -  Pick up a reusable cup or shaker that can be used on-the-go.
