MAGIC BROWNIE RECIPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Have you ever had magic bars? Well, this version takes a basic brownie recipe and transforms them into huge ooey-gooey magic brownies to share for the holiday season. Add a holiday flare like crushed peppermint and festive sprinkles to take them over the top.

Here are the basic ingredients you will need so make these dreamy brownie bars.

  • Boxed Fudge Brownie Mix 
  • Smart Balance Buttery Spread
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 can Nestlé La Lechera Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz)
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaked coconut

Optional toppings: Crushed Peppermint, mini marshmallows and holiday sprinkles

To kick things off, I prepared the brownie mix and partially baked.

Then, I followed up with the gooey toppings including the shredded coconut, chocolate chips and 1 can Nestlé La Lechera Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz). The brownies get returned to the oven for all the magic to happen! Let me tell you, some serious magic is definitely happening as the condensed milk caramelizes and becomes a holiday dream.

Here is the recipe:

Magic Peppermint Brownies

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 50 minutes
Additional Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 2 hours

Basic brownies are transformed into a magical brownie with a ooey gooey layer of caramelized sweetened condensed milk, shredded coconut and chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 1 Boxes Fudge Brownie Mix (18.4 oz)
  • ¼ Cup Water
  • ½ Cup Smart Balance Buttery Spread, Melted (or equivalent butter/oil)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (12 oz
  • 1 ⅓ Cups Flaked Coconut
  • 1 Can LaLechera Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz)
  • Optional garnishes:
  • 1 TSP Holiday Sprinkles
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Instructions

    Heat the oven to 325 degrees.

    Line 13" x9" baking dish with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

    Combine all brownie ingredients in medium bowl. (Brownie Mix, Melted Butter, Water, Eggs)

    Pour mixture into baking dish

    Bake for 25 minutes and remove from oven.

    Layer the coconut, then chocolate chips evenly on top of brownie layer

    Pour Condensed Milk evenly over the top of entire pan.

    Return to oven.

    Bake 25-28 minutes until ingredients appear bubbly, toasted and melted  Remove from oven.

    Immediately add sprinkles if desired.

    Place on cooling rack for 30 minutes

    Holding foil edges, remove brownies from baking dish and return to cooking rack for 30 minutes.

    Cool completely before cut into bars for serving.
