How to Make Pencil Wafer Cookies

Cut the top of the cookies into an angle to make a point.

Melt the red or pink melting wafer. Melt on low power for 30 seconds at a time until melted. Repeat with the white melting wafers.

Dip the non-pointed wafer cookie into the red chocolate to create the eraser. Let the excess drip off.

Dip the pointed end of the cookie into the white melting chocolate. Add a chocolate chip on the tip to create the lead.

Let the cookies on a piece of parchment paper to let the chocolate set.

How to Make Pencil Cookies with Name

If you want to add someone's name on the pencil cookies, add the melting chocolate to a pastry bag or plastic bag. Cut the tip off the end and carefully write the name.

You can also use cookie frosting in a pastry bag or use something like this Wilton Cookie Decorating set to write the names on the cookies.

Tips and Tricks to Make Sugar Wafer Pencil Cookies

Use pre-made wafer cookies to save time. You can make your own cookies in the shape of a pencil but using the wafer cookies makes this a truly easy last-minute treat for parties.

Get creative with colors. Have fun experimenting with different colors for the "lead" and "eraser" parts of the pencil to create a variety of designs.

How to Store These School Snacks

Store your pencil wafer cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. If you've used chocolate or frosting that may melt, you can layer the cookies between sheets of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Enjoy them within a few days for the best taste and texture.

  • 1 package vanilla wafer cookies
  • 6 oz red or pink melting wafers

Instructions

  1. Take a wafer cookie and cut the top of one end at an angle to make a point. Repeat with as many cookies as you like.
