CHOCOLATE RICOTTA SIX FEET UNDER CAKE RECIPE

This chocolate ricotta graveyard cake is made with two of the most delicious ingredients around: chocolate cake and ricotta. The rich, creamy ricotta pairs perfectly with the chocolate flavor to create a gravesite that's fit for a king or queen...of Halloween, that is!

You can certainly call this a graveyard cake, but I felt like being offbeat. So.. a 6 feet under cake it is.

HOW TO MAKE A 6 FEET UNDER CAKE

This chocolate ricotta cake is not only delicious, but it's also incredibly easy to make. The base of the cake comes together in just minutes, and then it's simply a matter of baking and letting it cool.

Once it's cooled, you can decorate it however you like. Let me give you the complete run down. For the complete instructions, please scroll to the recipe card to save or print.

Start off by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.

Prepare your baking pan (9 x 13") with non-stick cooking spray.

Prepare cake mix in a medium bowl according to the package directions. This should typically be eggs, water and vegetable oil.

Pour the mixed batter evenly into your baking pan.

Mix ricotta cheese, all (4) eggs, sugar and cocoa in a medium bowl until completely smooth.

Pour the ricotta mixture over the cake mixture in the baking pan gently. Cover as much space as you can evenly. Use a spoon or spatula to smooth the mixture over any areas and sides that are difficult to cover.

Bake the cake for 53-57 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick can be inserted into the center and come out clean.

Cool the cake completely. This will take about 2 hours. Don't skip this step.

While cake is cooking, we will prepare the chocolate topping.

Mix milk with dry pudding mix in a medium bowl for 3 minutes and then refrigerate for 10 minutes.

When the pudding is set, fold in the Cool Whip or whipped topping until completely combined.

When the cake has cooked, spread the Cool Whip mixture evenly over the top.

Spread the crushed cookies evenly over the top of the cake.

Finally, it's time to decorate.

DECORATING A GRAVEYARD 6 FEET UNDER CAKE

You can decorate your yummy cake however you like. I like to keep things simple with Crushed Oreos, candy eyes, pumpkin candies, sprinkles and some store-bought cupcake toppers. But feel free to get as creative as you like!

Most people tend to use cookies for the gravestones and then write messages on them such as R.I.P. etc.
