Hard-Cook Eggs in Your Oven. For Real!

Am I the only person that can't boil eggs properly? I always have some issue and end up cracking eggs or they kind of explode in the pot. So frustrating! I've been meaning to try out hard cooked eggs in the slow cooker too, that seemed more up my alley. Well, I just learned about another way to cook em too and that is in the oven! I wish that I'd heard of this years ago, I could have spared myself a lot of frustration... and more importantly self esteem 😉

  1. Thanks for the info - I'm thinking if you have the oven on for something else, you could so easily put the eggs in to hard 'bake' at the same time. Couple years ago I shifted to the cover eggs in cold water, bring them to a boil and then turn off the heat. It's a very forgiving method and you can let them sit for 10 minutes or 2 hours after you turn the heat off. I have consistently found they peel very easily if the eggs are still warm. If I let them cool, the whites stick to the shells more.

  2. I feel your pain, I totally have that problem too! These peel pretty darn well! I think you will like it! Try it and let me know how you make out! 😉

  3. But how do they PEEL??? I'm driving myself mad over here because my whites keep sticking to the shell. >:( I will def have to try this! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I need to try this stat! I have heard others doing this successfully, too. I hate boiling them, so this seems like a great way to do it!

  5. We just tried this. And all the eggs came out covered in brown spots, and 3 cracked! :/ Kinda bummed, I was hoping this would be easier, but I think I'll stick to just boiling them!

    1. Hi Chelle,

Oh no, that is so terrible. I wonder why that happened.. mine came out really perfect and I made 3 batches so far. ;( Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Maybe has something to do with the pan used?

    2. That surprises me, too. I hear this is the new way to cook eggs! Maybe you really need to watch the time??

  6. I've been cooking forever it seems but I never heard os hard cooked eggs by this oven method! I intend to try, though!

  7. Hi Carrie, surprisingly they come out almost exactly like when boiled. Hope you like how yours come out! Let me know 😉

  8. GREAT idea But wonder if the taste is any different or if they are dry? This is a definite must try idea. Thank you

  9. I might try this with eggs on one rack and bacon on the other! Less mess on my stovetop that way.

  10. I'll believe this when I try it for myself! LOL...I am terrible at boiling eggs...always seem to mess it up somehow. Thanks for this tip...very interesting!

  11. Seems like a long time, 30 minutes to cook hard boiled eggs. I'm meh about it.. I have discovered that if you use older eggs, more than a week old that they rarely crack and that they peel ever so much more eaisly than newer eggs.

    1. I agree, it's a little long.. but I like to set and forget using my timer. So I don't mind.

Thanks for that tip, that is very interesting!

  12. Thanks for sharing your tip. I had the same problem about eggs exploding in the pot, but what I actually do now is keep the raw eggs in a bowl of hot water for 5 mins and then cook them in the pot.

  13. DUDE! This is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing, I never imagined you could bake eggs. I am always under or overcooking my boiled eggs so I am definitely giving this a try!

  14. Thats awesome, I never ever would have thought of that. Thanks for the great tip/trick!!!

  15. Best way to boil eggs is put them in the pot, put cold water over them, then turn stove on high. Let come to a rapid boil, turn stove off place a plate on the pot and wait for 12 minutes. Then run cold water over and peel. Easy, and not a pain in the butt to get the shell off. 🙂

  16. I can not WAIT to try this!!! We do boiled eggs in tuna salad pretty often in my house and boiling eggs is definitely not a science I have perfected, lol. Thank you 🙂
