Whether it's to friends and family or your entire neighborhood.

Sadly, now that my son is getting older... he prefers enjoying the fruits of kitchen labor more than helping.

But, he is definitely a sucker for spreading kindness and doing nice things for others.

I was able to get him into helping out for a little fun.

As I mentioned recently, we're pretty new to our neighborhood and don't know many people quite yet.

Baking has been a big help and thanks for tasty treats, I think we're at the beginning of really becoming a part of the community here.

It's truly amazing how easy it is to make someone's day with a baked surprise.

  1. My recipe I've been using for years is much simpler. It's called saltine toffee bark:
put 40 saltines on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Melt 1 cup butter with 3/4 cup brown sugar bring to rolling boil for 3 minutes. DO NOT STIR.
Pour over saltines. Bake @350 for 8-10 minutes til bubbly. Remove from oven and sprinkle 8oz chocolate bits over top. Allow to soften and spread over top. Sprinkle with nuts. Allow to cool. Refrigerate 1 hr. break into pieces and store in air tight container.

  2. I gave my neighbors of 30 years, love them, a canister filled with homemade chocolate chip cookies for Christmas and do you know what was done for me & my dear 76 yr. old mama? (we are roomates 😀 ) I went to go and put up our Christmas tree and it (the metal part) literally snapped right in half. When i was at the bank, I was visiting with a friend who I grew up with and just mentioned about the tree, never meaning for her to go buy us a brand new one! It was just conversation. Before the day was out she showed up with it and it is such a beautiful tree...talk about how to #SpreadCheer! She definitely did. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. I'm actually having a little Christmas gathering today. I invited 2 women from the neighborhood who do not have any family here (I don't, either). Nothing fancy; I'm just going to order us a pizza, I bought some Christmas cookies and pop, and we're going to open a few little gifts that we got for each other.
We're all looking forward to it. 🙂

  4. One of the funnest things to do is to bake cookies and deliver them to those who help us regularly such as the cashier at the store, or the mailman.

  5. I plan to #SpreadCheer to the local nursing home by baking goodies and taking them there and spending time visiting with the residents and singing carols, etc. My family does this every year.

  6. We do not live in a neighborhood so we like to #spreadcheer to our local nursing homes and police and fire stations.
