7 Classic Ways to Celebrate Halloween
It's just about that time! Aren't you excited that Halloween falls on a Saturday this year? I sure am, that means I can stretch the fun out just a little bit more. I'm taking a little trip down memory lane to remember some of the Halloween celebrations from my childhood. Many of them are traditions we're still continuing today. Plus, I'm curious to learn about your traditions too! This is a sponsored post, I am blogging about Kmart Halloween, though all opinions are my own.
7 Classic Ways to Celebrate Halloween
1. Get Dressed Up - One of the most fun things to do is get dressed up for Halloween. It's the one day of the year that we can all be someone or something we're not. I've dressed up as many things over the years, but the one costume that always comes to mind was my mothers. She dressed up as a bag of jelly beans. She used balloons as the jelly beans and stuffed herself and the balloons into a garbage bag. It was really fun and spirited! Speaking of, everyone can get in on the fun with over 5,000 costumes available at Kmart in store and online! Its not too late to come up with something that your friends and family will remember and smile about for years to come.
2. Throw a Party - Celebrate it big with a Halloween party. It's a fun way to extend the fun and make extra spooky memories. I remember some of the parties we had growing up, they were pretty epic. I remember all of the cool details like what everyone dressed up as, the fun foods we had and the guests that visited us. Lastly, I distinctly remember dressing up as a gypsy. I was so excited that my mom let me where her bandanna!
3. Carve or Decorate Pumpkins - Not a year goes by that we don't get a pumpkin or ten. I've carved them, which I'll admit is not my thing. I've also painted and even spray painted pumpkins as well. You can really let your creativity flow and do almost anything you like to spruce or spook up your pumpkin! If you're not feeling creative, you can always just pick up a decorative pumpkin instead 😉
4. Go Trick or Treating - As a kid, getting lots of treats is kind of BIG on the Halloween wish list. As I got a little older, my friends and I would brainstorm on what Trick or Treat bag we would bring to hold the maximum amount of candy without our parents catching on. I may have gotten away with taking a large pillow case one time.
5. Give out Treats - Giving is almost as fun as receiving on Halloween. Sometimes when the kids or really little or a little too big, staying home and passing out treats can be ultra fun too. I dare you to count how many princesses arrive at your door. Guess what? It's not too late to still stock up and save on your favorites. You can grab two Hershey, Mars or Nestle fun size candy bags at Kmart for just $5, while supplies last. Yummers.
6. Creep out or Spook Your Family - As fun as Halloween is, it wouldn't be the same without a haunt or two. Playing pranks on your family can be super fun and make the day even more memorable.
7. Play Halloween Games - Among some of my fondest Halloween memories include classic games. My top favorite was always bobbing for apples! Plan to play them with your family or at that epic party you'll be throwing! Make sure to stock up on fun prizes for the winners too.
As an added bonus, age really doesn't matter on this fun and festive holiday!
The fun is only beginning! On Saturday, October 31st {Halloween} Kmart is your destination for Halloween fun!

Now, I'm just dying to know what your Halloween traditions are! Please share 😉
Growing up I loved dressing up. But as an adult my favorite things about Halloween now are pumpkin carving, baking and crafts.
Those are definitely great things about Halloween! There are just so many fun things to bake and craft for this holiday. It gets hard to choose!
I do some of these traditions, I hope your family has a great Halloween.
Thank you so much! We did have a great Halloween as a matter of fact. I hope your family did as well! 🙂
We do all of these traditions! Plus, we start with dinner at my mom's before all the kids hit the neighborhood!
All these are so fun! We always go trick or treating with our daughter and let her stop at all the family members houses first, to let them see her outfit, take pics and get candy. When trick or treat is over, we eat some candy and watch Halloween movies!
Awww! Your Halloween sounds so nice and full of traditions. I hope your family has a Happy Halloween!
Ever since we moved into the condo people just really don't quite celebrate Halloween. It's more of something I'm looking forward to celebrating when we buy our first home in the next few years. Growing up, we did a lot of pranks on Halloween.
Pranks are an awesome tradition! My family never knows what I might be up to around this time of year...all in good fun though of course!
We're staying in our neighborhood as we have a pot luck style neighborhood party. It is our first year celebrating Halloween in our new house so I'm excited to see all the kids mingle! Good food, treats, and I'm sure some tricks!
Sounds like your Halloween is going to be a lot of fun! I love how your neighborhood comes together to celebrate. Congratulations on the new house too. 🙂
All fun ways. I love the free bonuses that are fun for kids like the Kmart one you menitoned. Sometimes at the Publix by our house they set up surprise trays of things like spaghetti "guts".
One of our Halloween traditions is heading to our favorite thrift store to come up with costumes. We don't spend much and it is fun. We have lot's of laughs in the process.
Thanks for sharing that great idea Kristi! I bet your family does have a lot of fun doing that. I think it would be hilarious to see what my family would throw together. 😉
