Gift Box Cookies
Here's what you need to make 20 cookies.
Lorna Doone Cookies (10oz box - 40 cookies)
1-2 Individual Fruit by Foot (Strawberry)
M&Ms - Green & Red
White Icing (Such as Cake Mate)
DIY Red & Green Cookie Coating
4 Cups Confectioner's Sugar (2 cups for each color)
Green and Red Food Coloring
Several TBSP of Water
Directions to make icing: Add a Tablespoon at a time until you reach a smooth and drippy consistency. Divide the mixture in half. Add one drop of food coloring at a time until you reach the perfect red and green colors.
Step by step directions:
Add a dab of cookie coating between each *set* of cookies to adhere them together. Let dry for a few minutes.
Place the cookie "gift boxes" on a cookie rack with wax paper (or a tray) underneath to catch the drips and for easy cleanup. If your cookie coating is thicker, you can spread it like frosting, if it's more drippy use the pour over method. You can literally use a spoon and spoon the mixture over the cookies until they are completely covered. Let the cookies set there until completely dry.
In the meantime, prepare your Fruit by the Foot bows.
Trim a single Fruit by the Foot in half and then cut into 4" sections. Each "section" will be used for 1 cookie bow.
Create the bow by looping each Fruit by the Food 4" section. Press into the center with a toothpick to secure. Use a dab of white icing to secure a red or green M&M into the center. Create all of the bows and set aside for the icing to dry.
Once both the cookies and bows are dry, it's time to adhere the bows to the top of the cookies. Use another dab of white icing and press the bows on firmly. Let dry before serving!
Voila! Super easy gift box cookies!
