With the help of a flower cookie cutter, you can create this easy show-stopping festive holiday dessert.

It's perfect for hosting at home or bringing with you for a holiday potluck or party.

You can get super creative with it or keep simple like I did.

CHRISTMAS TREE COOKIE PLATTER

It's an eye catching addition to any Christmas themed dessert table.

You might even want to get your kids involved in making this since it's so easy and the possibilities for creativity with it are endless.

We will add flour to a roll of store-bought cookie dough. We will cut out our shapes from the rolled out dough with a selection of cookie cutters.

Then, we will bake to perfection, cool and ice. The rest is easy. We will stack the cookies in a shape to look like a festive Christmas tree.

CHRISTMAS TREE COOKIE INGREDIENTS

Here's what you need to make a cookie platter shaped like a Christmas tree of your own:

  • Store-bought Cookie Dough Roll
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Green and Pink Cookie Icing
  • Cookie Cutters

COOKIE CUTTER LIST

You will need a few cookie cutters to create your own tasty dessert tree.

Here are the cutters used for this:

Flower Cookie Cutter - there are a variety that would work for this. I used one similar to the cutter in this cookie cutter set. I used a 3" size.

Star Cookie Cutter - To make your epic cookie tree topper, you can use any number of star cutter sizes. I chose a 3" size for mine.

Circle Cookie Cutter - To make the ornaments, you will need a small circular cutter. About 1 inch sized is perfect for this.

HOW TO MAKE A CHRISTMAS TREE COOKIE PLATTER

First, preheat your oven to 325°F. Then, knead the cookie dough with all of the all-purpose flour on a floured surface.

When it's combines, roll the cookie dough out until it' about ¼" thick.

  • Use a Flower Cookie Cutter to cut out 10 cookies
  • Use Star Cookie Cutter to cut out 1 cookie
  • Use Circle Cookie Cutter to cut out 5 cookies

Place all of the flower and star cookies on a non-stick baking sheet and put in the freezer for 10 minutes or refrigerator for 15 minutes to preserve shape. Then, we will bake them.

Place your circle cookie shapes on a separate small cookie sheet and store in refrigerator while the others are baking.

Then, while flower and star cookies are baking, bake ornament cookies for 6-8 minutes.

Once all cookies are completely cooled, it's time to frost them.

Use green cookie icing to frost flower cookies and pink to frost star and circles.

Once icing is completely set according to your package directions, it's time to set up our tree.

On a large tray or platter, line 4 flower cookies at the bottom, then moving upwards a row of 3, then 2 and then 1.

Finally, add your star cookie at the very top and then place the circle cookies around the tree for decoration.

Sugar Cookie Christmas Tree

Festive Christmas Tree Cookie Platter made with one roll of store-bought cookie dough, a flower cookie cutter and icings.

Ingredients

  • 1 16.5 ounce Store-bought Cookie Dough Roll
  • ¼ Cup All-Purpose Flour + few pinches for cutting board
  • Green and Pink Cookie Icing
  • Cookie Cutters:
  • 3" Flower Cookie Cutter
  • 3"Star Cookie Cutter
  • 1" Circle Cookie Cutter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F
  1. Knead cookie dough with all the flour on a floured surface.
  2. Roll the dough out until the dough is about ¼" thick
  3. Use Flower Cookie Cutter to cut 10 cookies
  4. Use Star Cookie Cutter to cut one cookie
  5. Place cookies on a non-stick baking sheet
  6. Add baking sheet to the freezer for 10 minutes or refrigerator for 15 minutes to preserve shape.
  7. Use Circle Cookie Cutter to cut 5 cookies and place on a separate small cookie sheet and store in refrigerator.
  8. Bake flower and star cookies for 8-11 minutes.
  9. Cool completely before decorating.
  10. Bake ornament cookies for 6-8 minutes, keeping an eye on them since they will bake faster.
  11. Cool completely before decorating.
  12. Use green cookie icing to frost flower cookies and pink to frost star and circles.
  13. Let the icing set completely according to your package directions.
  14. On a large tray or platter, start at the bottom to line 4 cookies, then moving upwards a row of 3, then 2 and then 1. Add your star cookie at the very top. Finally, place the circle cookies around the tree for decoration. Enjoy.
