Fruit, Cheese, & Cucumber Roses

In a condiment cup, start arranging fruit slices along the cup's edges to form your first layer of petals (usually 4-5 slices). Next, add 3-4 slices for the second layer. For the final touch, roll up a slice and place it in the center to create a "swirl" effect on the rose! Repeat this process for lemon, blood orange, strawberries, provolone, and cucumber slices.

Board Construction

Get your deli meat roses down first - they're the space hogs. Build your board around them. Now, pop in your lemon and blood orange roses, the next big guys. Space them out nice and even. Follow with the strawberry and cucumber roses.

Once your roses are set, grab three pinch bowls for honey, pistachios, and cashews. Plop them on the board, evenly spaced. Fill those gaps with red grapes, blueberry skewers, and mozzarella pearls. Lastly, sprinkle sage leaves around the edges and in the center for those "flower leaves."

Tips and Tricks

Enjoy the meat, cheese, and fruit on this board within 4 hours, or pop them in the fridge if you can't finish them.

Make sure your fruit is sliced extremely thin. If it is too thick, the slices won’t bend easily to make the rose petals.

For an extra touch of elegance, consider drizzling a bit of balsamic glaze over your fruit roses just before serving. This will not only enhance their flavor but also add a visually stunning contrast to your colorful creation.

When picking out your board, think about the size and material - they really do make a difference. A wooden board adds a rustic touch, while marble brings an elegant flair. Make sure it's big enough to fit everything without feeling crowded. This not only makes your board look great but also practical, helping guests easily grab their favorite bites.

Experiment with different layouts before finalizing your setup, as this can dramatically change the board's visual appeal. Remember, the goal is to create a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate.

Ingredients

  • deli ham
  • deli salami
  • red grapes
  • pistachios
  • cashews
  • honey
  • lemon slices (thin)
  • blood orange slices (thin)
  • cucumber slices (thin)
  • strawberries slices (thin)
  • provolone cheese slices
  • fresh sage (I used 2 packages)
  • mozzarella pearls
  • blueberries

Instructions

Blueberry skewers

Take a tooth pick and thread 4-5 blueberries onto it.

Repeat for as many skewers as you’d like for your board.

Ham & Salami Roses

Take a cup and layer 3 meat slices around the edges of the cup.

Repeat with 2 more slices for the next layer, then 2 more slices for the third layer.

Flip the cup over on the board and you’re left with a beautiful rose made out of deli meat.

Fruit, Cheese, & Cucumber Roses

Make sure your fruit is sliced extremely thin. If it is too thick, the slices won’t bend easily to make the rose petals!

In a condiment cup, start placing slices of fruit around the interior edges of the cup to create your first layer of petals. (Typically 4-5 fruit slices)

Once you have your first layer, place 3-4 slices in the cup to create your second layer.

For your last layer, take a slice and roll it up, then place it in the center. This will give the rose “swirl”!

Do this entire process for the lemon slices, blood orange slices, strawberries slices, provolone, and cucumber slices.

Board Construction

Place down your deli meat roses first, since those take up the most space. You will build your board around these!

Next place your lemon roses and blood orange roses, since those are the next largest. Make sure to evenly space them out.

Next add in your strawberry and cucumber roses.

Once all the roses are placed, fill three small pinch bowls with honey, pistachios, and cashew. Place the bowls on the board, evenly spaced.

Fill in the extra spaces with red grapes, the blueberry skewers, and mozzarella pearls.

Finally, place the sage leaves around the edges of the board as well as in the center spaces to create the “flower leaves”

Notes

Additional Items You Will Need:

  • toothpicks
  • brown parchment paper
  • small pinch bowls
  • 2 inch condiment cups

You can use any deli meat for the roses, but salami and ham are common charcuterie board staples!

If you cannot find blood oranges, you can use grapefruit, regular oranges, or even limes.

The great thing about these types of boards is that you have creative freedom! If you decide you want melon or Brie or crackers, then feel free to add them!

Because there is meat and cheese on this board, make sure to consume it within 4 hours or place those elements in the fridge if not consumed. Same goes for the fruit.
