HOW TO MAKE S'MORES CUPCAKES
These cupcakes are pretty simple to make thanks to a few yummy shortcuts! Let's make them! Be sure to scroll down to the official recipe card for complete instructions.
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F. While the oven is heating, place the cupcake liners into your cupcake pans.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and butter. Add just one tablespoon of the graham cracker crust to each liner and press it in until it's flat.
Then bake the crusts for 6 minutes and allow them to cool completely.
Next up, it's time to prepare your cake mix according to the directions on the box. Then, add the cupcake mixture to the cupcake pans until each is about ¾ full. Bake them according to the directions on the box.
In the bowl of your high-speed mixer, combine the butter, shortening, and marshmallow fluff and mix on medium-high speed until fully combined.
Add in the powdered sugar and cocoa powder while mixing on low.
Add in the milk and vanilla extract and let the mixture to whip for 3 to 4 minutes until its light and fluffy.
Place your buttercream into a piping bag with a large straight piping tip. Then, pipe the buttercream onto the cupcakes.
Using a torch or heat gun, toast the tops of the marshmallows and place one on each cupcake. You can also do this in the oven, see my tips below.
For the perfect final touches, sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs on the cupcakes and then place one piece of chocolate onto each cupcake.
Voila!!! Your delish dessert is ready!
CAN THIS RECIPE BE MADE INTO MINI CUPCAKES
Yes, you will need only to use about 1-2 teaspoons of the graham crackers pre-cupcake. Then you will need to reduce the baking time to only 15-19 minutes.
HOW LONG ARE CUPCAKES GOOD FOR?
If you store them in an airtight container at room temperature, they will be good for 4-5 days.
CAN THESE BE MADE WITH CANNED FROSTING?
Yes, I would whip up chocolate frosting with a cup of marshmallow fluff to give you that chocolate marshmallow frosting.
IS THERE A WAY TO TOAST THE MARSHMALLOWS WITHOUT A TORCH OR HEAT GUN?
Yes, you can put them under the broiler and carefully watch them because if they get too melted, they will stick to the pan.
WHERE CAN I GET GRAHAM CRACKER CRUMBS?
You can find them in the baking section of the grocery store. You can also make your own by pulsing whole graham crackers in a food processor or placing them in a freezer bag and smashing them with a rolling pin.
CAN THESE BE MADE WITH MINI MARSHMALLOWS?
You can place 6-8 toasted mini marshmallows onto the cupcakes.
CAN I TOAST THE WHOLE MARSHMALLOWS INSTEAD OF JUST THE TOPS?
This is very tricky because if you overheat the marshmallow, they will stick to the plate, and you will not be able to get them off. You can get away with this if you have a powerful torch.
S'mores cupcakes are the perfect dessert for any summer party! They're easy to make and everyone will love them.
