Glitter Puking Star Cookies
Glitter, glitter everywhere! Have you seen the new LEGO movie trailers? I cannot even stand how CUTE that little star is and when it pukes glitter in one of the The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part trailers. I melted. HA! It's like ridiculously cute and I couldn't help but to envision it in cookie form. So, enter Glitter Puking Star Cookies! Make a batch to enjoy and head out to see the movie, it's in theaters now and I personally can't wait to see it! Looks totally gut-busting! This post contains affiliate links.
Not a fan of the word puking or barfing, but I asked some of my blog friends which they thought was LESS gross and here we are. 😛 I much prefer something like hurling, but that just doesn't do this idea justice. Either way, you're looking at some tasty glitter cuteness ahead!
LEGO MOVIE STAR COOKIE RECIPE
You know how I do, this is more of a how to put together these awesome cookies... with store-bought dough or a mix of course. I used refrigerated cookie dough for these along with a star cookie cutter. Easy, peasy. The rest is the fun part if you ask me. Let's decorate these little LEGO movie inspired bites of cookie goodness. Shall we?
I'll admit, it took me a good couple of hours to figure out how to get the glitter sprinkles on the cookies without getting them ALL over the cookie. But, right in the last minutes before I was literally about to give up... I heard a ding. ding.ding. go off inside my head. If I just put the icing on in that one area... the extra glitter would have nothing to stick to. Yay. Winning. So, make sure to follow these simple, but straight-forward tips to get all the glitter puke and none of the fuss. 😛 Forgive me here. (Also, watch the video below for a visual.)
Step One: Prepare your star cookies using either a store bought dough, boxed mix or other sugar cookie recipe along with a star cookie cutter. Let cool.
Step Two: Use yellow cookie icing like Wilton brand here to ice the "glitter vomit" area only.
Step Three: Carefully sprinkle three different colors of sprinkles over the icing while before it sets. I used sparkly pink, purple and teal.
Step Four: Carefully add icing to fill in the rest of the star cookie surrounding the glitter and let the icing set for about 15 minutes.
Step Five: Add the eyes. I used Wilton Sparkle Gel in Black and topped with mini candy eyes that were flipped upside down to reveal only the white side. Add tiny eyebrows using the gel, too.
Step Six: Add a dot of pink for the cheeks. I used Wilton Sparkle Gel in pink to do this.
Voila! It's really that simple for all this movie inspired cuteness!
