Open the bag by cutting across the top, leaving at least 2 inches of room above the muffins.
Add the strawberry filling to the top of the muffins. Top with whipped cream. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
Tips and Tricks
Don't prep these too early, or they'll get soggy. It's best to whip them up right before serving.
If you can't find the strawberry mini muffins, no worries! You can swap them out with vanilla muffins or something similar.
Variations
- Berry Mix: For a different twist, mix in other types of berries like blueberries or raspberries along with the strawberries.
- Chocolate Lovers: Drizzle some chocolate syrup or melt chocolate chips to create a delicious chocolate-strawberry combination.
- Healthier Option: Swap out the whipped cream for Greek yogurt to make a healthier version of this treat. You could also use whole wheat or gluten-free mini muffins for a healthier base.
- S'mores Inspired: Replace the strawberries with marshmallows and add a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs on top for a s'mores inspired Walking Strawberry Shortcake.
- Alternate Mini Muffins: If you want to try another flavor or just can't find the mini muffins that I used, you can also try their Fudge Brownies or Chocolate Chip or Party Cake flavored muffins or Birthday Cake flavored too. If you can't find the Entenmanns brand, you can also look for Little Debbie Strawberry Mini Muffins or other flavors.
Walking Strawberry Shortcake Serving Suggestions
Serve these Walking Strawberry Shortcakes on an outdoor picnic or as a fun dessert at your next camping trip. They're also perfect for birthday parties, potlucks, and BBQs. Here are some fun things to serve with the Walking Strawberry Shortcake.
- Refreshing Beverages: Serve with a glass of chilled lemonade, iced tea, or even a light, fruity sangria. For a non-alcoholic choice, sparkling water with a splash of berry flavor complements the strawberry taste wonderfully.
- Light Salads: A fresh, crisp salad with greens, cucumbers, and a light vinaigrette can balance out the sweetness of the dessert. You might also consider a fruit salad featuring a variety of berries, melons, and citrus fruits.
- Savory Snacks: Pair these sweet treats with some savory options like cheese and crackers, veggie sticks with dip, or a mix of salted nuts. These will provide a nice contrast to the sweetness of the Walking Strawberry Shortcake. Some of my favorites are Flower Charcuterie Board and Summer Dipping Charcuterie Board
- Finger Sandwiches: Mini sandwiches with light fillings such as cucumber and cream cheese, egg salad, or turkey and avocado can make a pleasing addition to a strawberry shortcake spread.
- Hot Beverages: If the weather is cooler or if you’re serving these treats at an evening event, consider pairing with hot beverages like coffee, tea, or hot chocolate to give a cozy touch to your dessert experience.
